What is it? The FatMax test is a metabolic efficiency test that measures how the body uses energy during exercise. The test begins at a low intensity and every 3 minutes the intensity is increased. During the test, expired gasses are collected and measured to calculate fat and carbohydrate burn.
Why is it useful? The FatMax test determines what fuel is being used during increased exercise intensity; the point at which fat burning peaks and the crossover point when carbohydrate burning surpasses fat burning.
